Is There a Point?

If people don't listen to my show, then that is not their fault, responsibility or problem, it's mine, strictly and completely mine.

If anyone is interested in my show, they're not showing it. And again, that is my responsiblity, not anyone else's. No one is in any way obligated to drop two hours of their life for the likes of me. If they're going to give any of their time, it muust be because they are interested. I don't want to be humored, I don't want any of that. If what I come up with is a load of crap that no one wants to listen to, fine, I can take that. But it would be nice to know one way or the other.

I'll never, ever be one of those broadcasting magnets that attracts tons of loyal listeners who would sooner miss their spouse's funeral than miss a show. I'm not aspiring for that. I enjoy doing what I'm doing, if it brighten's anyone's week a little. But if I'm pouring my heart and soul into performing to a vacuum each weekend, then what the bloody heck is the point? Just who am I kidding?

I need to know if I should continue with this or if I should just give it up, admit that it's been a failed effort, and move on with my life. If it's the latter, then fine. No hard feelings. I can accept it if I don't have a product that people are interested in, can be bothered with , or what have you. But I pour my heart and soul into these shows, it takes a lot out of me, and if I'm doing it for no purpose, then there's no reason to continue trying it. The onus is on me to entertain, period. End of story. If I'm not doing that, I need to pack it in gracefully.

It's kinda like I mentioned to you earlier, I know you definitely prefer the way you do it now, which is to pre-record the shows. But sweetstephanie and I were talking and she actually came up with an idea that may help to gage wether or not there's actual public interest as opposed to you just doing it and getting no feedback. What you might do sometime, and maybe you've done this already, but what you might do is sign into your messenger account or another designated one specifically made for your show while the show is on and see if anyone takes interest. It does take time to build a listener base, so I hope you won't get too discouraged too early on. If that's not something you're interested in doing, the question I'll pose is this. Do *you* enjoy doing the shows? If the answer is yes then by all means keep doing it. You might not get a lot of reaction as a result, but you have to decide if you're doing it because you love to do it, the actual creation of the show itself, or if you're looking for people to give you recognition and say hey, what a cool show this is, I'm gonna tell my friends and tell them to tune in. Or if you're like me, it's a bit of both. I love to sit down at the computer and play music I know people are actually going to enjoy listening to, or at least have some kind of interest in. But that last question, the one about you enjoying doing the show is only one that you can answer. If at some point you do decide to go the route of the live show, my offer to help you still stands and that's a promise. I like to help folks whenever I can.
Good and much-appreciated ideas. I've already implemented the MSN idea, I did that from day one. I'm also implementing an IRC chat room for anyone wanting to chat with me and with other listeners during the show. thank you, both of you.
